To those who think old times were better and are trying to bring old practices into today’s world, how far back do you want to go? I am sure you do not want to go back to the time when there were no clothes, homes, fire, etc. What is your cutoff line for going back in time?
Reflection on the past is important to learn life lessons and gain motivation. Repetitive patterns can be observed by looking at the past; predictions can be made, experiments can be done, and cultures can be preserved. However, constant rumination on the past and persistent comparison with the present may hinder growth and freedom. The past should not be used to ridicule particular groups of people or the current generation. Using it as a privilege to belittle others does not strengthen you in the present. The superiority ego prevents acceptance, tolerance, and assimilation. Extreme adherence to archaic events and times can lead to detachment from reality, hindering current opportunities, research, and innovation.
Many times, it's not even possible to walk on similar paths as were taken by our ancestors. Can we bring the old surroundings and circumstances back? Obsession with the glorious past can fill us with regret and resentment in the present.
It's best to use the past for analysis, reflection, lessons, etc., and the present for karma, happiness, progress, etc.
Understand the difference between logical and illogical clinging to the ancient past.
